Sewing Basics
Class is 90 minutes long on Fridays, 10:00-11:45am
Registration is for Spring 2025 semester-long course (10 weeks starting the week of Jan. 27th)
Welcome to a hands-on course designed for students eager to explore the art of creating with fabric and thread! This course will introduce you to the fundamental skills of sewing, from understanding and safely using the basic tools and materials, critical vocabulary, to mastering essential stitches and techniques.
By the end of the course, you’ll have a small collection of completed projects and the skills to continue sewing on your own. No prior experience is needed—just bring your enthusiasm and a willingness to learn!
All materials needed to complete in-class art projects are included in the cost of the course.
However, students may want to get their own material for projects if they don’t like the selection available. Students are also welcome to bring their own sewing machine if it is known to be in good working condition (has been tested with some basic stitches within the last 6 months).
