The Rhetoric stage is roughly ages 14 to 15-sh upward. This is when children are setting the path for the course of their life and really starting to prepare for adulthood. Cognitively, they can explore they unknown because the known is more definitively understood. #thanksLogicyears Now, they use what they have learned to solve problems. Big problems. This is where they reach the height of abstract thought and delve deeply into hypotheticals and ripple effects. They can move from the natural world to the spiritual world; from the practical to the theoretical. This sounds like a lot of “out of body” experiences, doesn’t it?
These are the years they are focusing on the science of communication and the art of expression. They are communicating the truth of the subjects learned in the dialectic/logic stage through writing, speech, or conversation; and focusing on their areas of expertise.
At this age, it’s about COMMUNICATING
It’s about enjoying these young people we have watched develop and support them in learning to navigate the adult world while they still have access to the safety net of home.
