Description
Elementary Mornings – Language Focus
Students meet on Tuesdays, 9:30am – noon
Registration is for Fall only (13 weeks) OR full year course (26 weeks)
This interdisciplinary course will foster students’ creativity, critical thinking, and cultural awareness as they explore literature and social studies then express their understanding through artistic expression and hands-on projects.
The focus area for Fall 2026 is Culture & Folktales of Europe & Russia.
The focus area for Spring 2027 is Culture & Folktales of Ancient Greece
Students will participate in interactive discussions, collaborative activities, and multimedia presentations to deepen their understanding of different aspects of our focus regions with some fun and fascinating adventures. Through these activities, students will sharpen their skills in communication, collaboration, and critical thinking.
Join us as we enter the realms of legend and discover what we can learn about the past as well as about our own lives today.
Students who are staying for afternoon Artistic Adventures should bring a nut-free lunch to eat. Lunch is supervised.
This is a hands-on class and students who struggle to speak to others in a respectful manner would not be well-suited to this course. Many students are sensitive to the criticism of others. The culture of our coschool is one of respect and being able to give constructive or dissenting opinions in a way that preserves good relationships.
Students will spend some time working in small groups and some time working individually. Our classes are part discussion/explanation to open and then “doing things”. Sometimes our activities are at a desk and sometimes it means exploring (which can mean being on hands and knees!).
